The Sri Lankan Professionals Association (SLPA) in the UAE proudly launched its inaugural Cricket Carnival 2024 with an exciting match draw, jersey presentation, and trophy unveiling ceremony on 10th November 2024 at ½Wallnut Restaurant, Aloft Hotel, Al Mina, Dubai.
This memorable event was graced by esteemed sponsors, team captains, SLPA board members, SLPA LLC Directors, event manager Top-Knock International, and our media partner, Dubai Lanka TV. Jerseys were presented to each team captain by our valued sponsors, setting a vibrant tone for the Carnival. Following this, Top-Knock led the match draw, where 20 men’s teams were grouped into four groups and eight women’s teams into two groups. The ceremony concluded with the unveiling of the rolling trophies, symbolizing the beginning of an enduring tradition.
A special thanks goes to Chamil Mendis, former Executive Board Member of SLPA representing SLITPA, for his dedicated media coverage and videography of the press conference. Our appreciation also extends to Dubai Lanka TV and Udana Fernando for capturing the day’s memorable moments, as well as to Top-Knock and Shehan for their media coverage, which will be shared soon. The atmosphere was lively and dynamic, with full representation from all 28 teams, including 11 professional associations, two diplomatic teams (Sri Lankan Embassy and Consulate General), and the Sri Lankan Welfare Association (SAHANA). The event concluded with a delightful networking session over light refreshments.
